The International Business Brokers Association® (IBBA®) is a trade association of business brokers providing education, conferences, professional designations, and networking opportunities. Formed in 1983, IBBA is the largest non-profit association specifically formed to meet the needs of people and firms engaged in various aspects of business brokerage, and mergers and acquisitions.

Today, the IBBA has more than 1,500 members in all parts of the world. The IBBA strives to create a professional relationship with successful business transaction advisors (i.e. CPAs, bankers, attorneys, and other related associations), to increase the image and value of the IBBA to its members, and to be a leader in the exchange of business referrals


A Certified Business Intermediary (CBI) is a trained and experienced Business Intermediary who possesses the necessary expertise to perform  business valuations, confidential marketing, negotiations, review lease documents and the multitude of complex details involved in the sale or purchase of a privately held business.

The CBI designation is professional credential earned by Business intermediaries who are members of the International Business Brokers Association (IBBA) and have satisfied the work experience and academic requirements in addition to adhering to the ethical standards of the IBBA.

CBI'S Have 3 Distinct qualifications.


A higher level of experience, training, and education necessary to handle the business valuation, marketing, negotiations, contracts and complex details involved in the sale or purchase of privately held businesses.


Knowledge of the most up-to-date market trends and industry data related to business valuation, financing, contracts, taxes, legislation and other areas with respect to business.
